According to RealtyTracs July Foreclosure Market Report, Maryland posted one of the highest percentage increase in foreclosure activity.

Maryland reported a 35.11% increase in foreclosure activity versus July of 2009, second only to Michigan.  Nationally we are seeing a year over year decrease in the huge foreclosure states of Florida, California, Nevada and Arizona but Marylands foreclosure activity continues to gather steam.

Well homeowners if you are 30 days or more behind on your mortgage, you are not alone. As reported in todays Baltimore Sun here are some facts about Marylands Foreclosure situation.

  • 4% of maryland homeowners are currently in imminent danger of losing their homes.  This is an all time high, in 2008 only .5% of homeowners were in this situation.
  • 14% of homeowners are 30 days or more behind on their payments, that is 1 out of every 7 homeowners.
  • There is an increase in the number of homeowners that are 90 days or more behind on their payments.
